The UK Government Cabinet Office issued the guidance to all Central Government Departments, Executive Agencies and Non Departmental Public Bodies with guidance to assess a supplier’s Carbon Reduction commitments.
The guidance applies to contracts, framework agreements and dynamic purchasing systems (DPS) over the value of £5 million per annum (ex. VAT), and includes:
- Baseline of current Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions, in line with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol
- Details of carbon reduction measures they have adopted to achieve Net Zero by 2050
- An annual update on their carbon emissions throughout the contract
- A requirement for suppliers to publish their carbon reduction plan on their website
